Well Point Dewatering Palm Beach
SMC Contracting regularly use well point dewatering systems during sitework excavations

When is dewatering used for sitework
- High water table - The main reason for construction site dewatering is that the water table on a bulding site is near the surface, and digging a deep trench or hole for pipe or structures means that the hole will fill with water. Dewatering around the dig location dries out the ground and stops water from filling excavations
- Deep excavations - If you excavate deep enough to get to water then you may need to dewater
- Leaks - Sometimes there is a water leak that is filling an excavation, if pumps do not work, then dewatering may be needed to empty the excavation of water.
What is needed for groundwater control
- Most cities/ counties & Palm Beach require a permit - Usually a permit is required to dewater. The permit may need to know ...
- how many pumps
- how many hoses
- the diameter of the hose/s
- location of outflow (usually another drain or onsite pit)
- holding tank
- engineering plan
- dates & duration
- other permits - like sidewalk closed, road closed, usage, excavation
- MOT
- sidewalk ramps so as not to impede pedestrians
- Engineering Plan - Usually an engineer must design the dewater for the particular job. It will define everything required for the dewater.
- Dewatering equipment - The main thing is the pump, hoses, header pipe, down pipes, sometimes a settlement tank
- Knowledgeable installation crew - Installing dewatering systems is not simple and requires an experienced crew to install
